“Τhe Deeper I Go, The More I Reveal” – Maria Fragoudaki at the Blender Gallery.

The exhibition’s duration is till Saturday 9th of November.

The Blender Gallery is pleased to announce the solo show of artist Maria Fragoudaki, titled “The Deeper I Go, The More I Reveal”, curated by Doctor of History of Art, museologist and curator Katerina Koskina. The exhibition’s duration is till Saturday 9th of November.

In her exhibition The Deeper I Go, The More I Reveal at The Blender Gallery, Maria Fragoudaki follows a thematic axis which combines issues of different nature—social, environmental and experiential. It may not be readily obvious that her themes touch upon the two related concepts of life and home. Although they were created over a ten-year period (2015-2024), during which much changed in the life of the artist, but also in the whole planet, yet the chromatic economy of a palette limited almost exclusively to tones of blue, black and white and the extensive use of discarded materials or used objects reflects the artist’s long research into colour and form and gives to these works the character of a series……

“……Maria Fragoudaki is interested in the process of turning industrial materials into the ‘body’ of the work. The material is taken out of recycling or environmental pollution to become part of the universal, silent but powerful language of art. Through the mobilisation of the audience and the quest for another condition, new ways appear and new ‘paths’ emerge to confirm the link between our inner and outer worlds. And this is the magic and the power of art. It can poetically suggest creative ways of respecting and taking care of life which will go on anyway, in a good or a bad way, largely at our responsibility. It can also reconcile us to the idea that we, like everything else, are headed towards recycling in one way or another”.

The exhibition presents 21 selected works, created over the past ten years, touching upon, as the curator of the exhibition writes, two related concepts, life and home.

From November 1 to 9, interactive sound installations are incorporated into the exhibition, introducing visitors to the creative personal “world” of Maria Fragoudaki. Specifically, music and writing are significant aspects of her artistic expression. She took her first steps in writing in January 2023, by writing the lyrics for the song “I Will Shout It Loudly” and her book “Let’s Catch the Sky,” which was published in May 2024 by Metaichmio Publications. The song “I Will Shout It Loudly” was performed at the Athens Concert Hall in January 2024 during a charity concert organized by the artist herself, under the artistic direction of Dionysis Savvopoulos.

On Wednesday, November 6, at 7:30 p.m., an event will be held at The Blender Gallery in light of the above action, inviting the public to experience the dialogue between different forms of art that complement each other — painting, writing, and music — revealing the authentic and rich artistic nature of the artist, who will be present at the event.
