The beloved concert series Jazz at the Museum, organized by the Basil & Elise Goulandris Foundation, continues on Friday, March 13 with Evi Mazi and Manos Kitsikopoulos presenting the performance The Breath of Time.
This year’s edition of the series, titled “Her Voice,” opens new musical paths by incorporating classical music, lyrical song, and other forms of artistic expression that highlight the timeless power of music.
Singer and flute soloist Evi Mazi and pianist Manos Kitsikopoulos present a unique musical journey spanning from the classical tradition to contemporary creation. At the heart of the performance lies the feminine spirit—an inexhaustible source of inspiration, sensitivity, and strength that resonates across artistic expression through different eras and musical styles.
In this program, Johann Sebastian Bach meets the Beatles in a dialogue that bridges centuries; Gabriel Fauré converses with Attik, Kurt Weill with Mikis Theodorakis, while Antonio Vivaldi’s melodies intertwine with those of Manos Hadjidakis. Chamber music, instrumental pieces, and songs are woven together to create a performance rich in contrasts, colors, and emotional depth.
The multifaceted pianist Manos Kitsikopoulos moves freely across musical genres, experimenting creatively while drawing inspiration from his classical music background. He has received awards and distinctions, performed in major venues in Greece and abroad, and also teaches at the Athens Conservatoire.
Singer and flute soloist Evi Mazi has collaborated with symphony orchestras, ensembles, composers, and artists including Nikos Mamangakis, Dionysis Savvopoulos, Stella Gadedi, and Argyris Bakirtzis. She has performed in numerous concert venues and has appeared in television and radio programs.
