Museum of Contemporary Art, Andros | June 14–September 27, 2026
The Basil & Elise Goulandris Foundation presents the exhibition “Germaine Richier (1902–1959): Conversations” at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Andros, from June 14 to September 27, 2026.Dedicated to one of the most important figures of 20th century European sculpture, the exhibition explores the artistic journey of Germaine Richier and her unique approach to the human form, nature and transformation.
Trained in the studio of Antoine Bourdelle, Richier began her career with portrait sculpture before developing a highly personal sculptural language in the 1940s. Her works combine human, animal and natural elements, reflecting her fascination with living forms, mythology and the relationship between humanity and the natural world. The exhibition presents works from across her career, highlighting the evolution of her practice and the dialogue created between her sculptures. It also includes a section dedicated to her studio and her engagement with printmaking, an artistic medium she incorporated into her work from 1947 onwards.
The exhibition is curated by Marie Koutsomallis-Moreau and Laurence Durieu, with exhibition design by Paraskevi Gerolymatou and Andreas Georgiadis.
