The Ellinikon, Europe’s largest urban regeneration project, enters a new chapter with the opening of The Ellinikon Sports Park, a state-of-the-art destination for sport, recreation and wellbeing, designed to be enjoyed by everyone. The first phase of the park opens to the public on 20 July, marking the first major milestone of The Ellinikon development and bringing a new era of active living to the Athens Riviera.
Spanning 287,000 sq m, including 115,000 sq m of landscaped green spaces, The Ellinikon Sports Park forms part of the wider Metropolitan Park and offers a dynamic environment where athletes, sports clubs, families and visitors of all ages can exercise, relax and reconnect with nature. The park’s first phase includes an athletics stadium with a throws field and seating for 1,070 spectators, four football pitches, basketball and tennis courts, open-air fitness areas, a 124-room sports accommodation facility, four dining venues, children’s recreation areas, event spaces, 1,350 parking spaces and a dedicated super app for facility and parking reservations.
The venue has already demonstrated its capabilities by hosting the spectacular super special stage of the 2026 EKO Acropolis Rally, welcoming 57 crews from 24 countries and attracting more than 10,000 spectators. According to LAMDA Development CEO Odisseas Athanasiou, the opening of the Sports Park represents a symbolic milestone for The Ellinikon, offering the public its first tangible experience of the transformative vision behind Europe’s largest urban regeneration project.
From 20 July until September, The Ellinikon Sports Park will operate daily from 18:00 to 23:00, before extending its opening hours to 08:00–24:00, 362 days a year, from September onwards. Admission will be free via the Alimos entrance (Aeroporias Street), welcoming residents and visitors alike to discover Greece’s newest destination for sport, wellness and outdoor living.
