On the occasion of the August Full Moon, on Friday, 28 August 2026, the Acropolis Museum will extend its opening hours, welcoming visitors continuously from 9:00 a.m. until midnight. Guests will have the opportunity to explore the Museum’s permanent galleries while enjoying spectacular views of the Acropolis illuminated beneath the moonlit Attic sky.
In addition to the permanent collections, visitors will enjoy the temporary exhibition Inspiration: Ancient Greek Art in Italy, on view until 30 August. Featuring 38 exceptional masterpieces in ceramic, bronze and marble—many of which have travelled outside Italy for the very first time—the exhibition explores the influence, reception and enduring legacy of ancient Greek art in Italy, from the Iron Age through to the 20th century.
At 6:00 p.m., visitors may also join a guided tour of the temporary exhibition led by an archaeologist from the Acropolis Museum. The tour lasts approximately 45 minutes, with participation limited to 30 visitors per session. Advance online booking is required via https://events.theacropolismuseum.gr/.
As every Friday, the Museum’s second-floor restaurant will remain open until midnight, offering guests a unique dining experience overlooking the illuminated Acropolis. On the same day, the Museum of the Excavation will welcome visitors from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., with the last admission at 7:30 p.m.
