Athens Photo World (APW), Athens’ annual international photojournalism festival and one of Greece’s most significant institutions dedicated to contemporary photography, returns for its eighth edition in 2026, with the support of PPC (Public Power Corporation).
Since its launch in 2019, Athens Photo World has welcomed tens of thousands of visitors to exhibitions, talks, presentations and digital screenings hosted in iconic and high-traffic locations across Athens, bringing the wider public into direct contact with the power of visual storytelling and documentary photography.
Following the successful outdoor exhibitions of Athens Photo World 2025 at the National Garden Fence and the Athens Concert Hall Fence, the call for entries for the Athens Photo World Awards has once again opened. The awards remain central to the festival’s mission: highlighting contemporary photojournalism and the photographers who document history as it unfolds.
With upgraded programming and new collaborations in its eighth edition, Athens Photo World continues to build on its most established and highly attended initiatives. At its core remains a commitment to connecting residents and visitors of Athens with photojournalism, through exposure to representative works by acclaimed photographers from around the world.
During the first quarter of 2026, Athens Photo World will include:
- The Athens Photo World Awards
- A masterclass for photographers
- A two-day Digital Screenings program at Technopolis City of Athens (28 February – 1 March)
- A collaboration with one of the world’s leading photography festivals, XPOSURE, held annually in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates
Throughout the summer, Athens Photo World will present its two established outdoor exhibitions at the National Garden and the Athens Concert Hall.
