Boutari Wineries & Semeli Estate Unveil two new White Labels at the Season’s most Elegant Event.

On Wednesday, June 11, the Maria Callas Museum was transformed into a living stage of the senses, where aromas, flavors, music, and terroir character came together for a unique after-office event dedicated to two iconic Greek grape varieties—Malagousia and Moschofilero.

Boutari Wineries and Semeli Estate welcomed media professionals and guests to Notes on Legacies—a tribute to the character and freshness of the modern Greek vineyard.

Set within the atmospheric museum honoring the timeless opera diva and with the majestic view of the Acropolis casting an aristocratic glow over the Athenian summer, guests discovered two new white wines that marry heritage with contemporary winemaking: Mantineia Cuvée from Boutari and Malagousia Cuvée Spéciale from Semeli. These wines, each with a distinct personality and refined aesthetic, were presented through an intermezzo of music, light, and character—accompanied by a live piano performance.

The wines were introduced by the winemakers themselves, offering an authentic perspective on the vision and values behind each label. Through personal stories and technical insights, they shared their philosophy, the varietal characteristics, and the winemaking decisions that shaped each cuvée. It was a rare opportunity for guests to connect with the creators and experience the human essence behind the flavor.

The choice of the museum was symbolic—just as Maria Callas carried the soul and voice of Greece to the world, these two wines express the dynamism of the Greek vineyard in a contemporary voice.

The event was held as part of the joint presentation of these two historic wineries under the Hellenic Wineries umbrella, reinforcing their renewed image and highlighting the discreet yet powerful energy of modern Greek wine.

A Tasting Revelation of Two Unique Cuvées

Boutari MANTINEIA Cuvée | Organic Wine, PDO Mantineia

A radiant white wine made from 100% Moschofilero, crafted by oenologist Alexandros Tzachristas. Sourced from organic vineyards over 50 years old in the Mantineia region and aged for three months in barrel, it boasts a highly aromatic profile with notes of jasmine, rose, and citrus, framed by refreshing touches of mint and honeycomb. On the palate, it is crisp, full-bodied, and superbly balanced, with lively acidity, subtle sweetness, and a persistent, fruity finish.

Perfect pairing: fish, seafood, and aged yellow cheeses.

Seméli MALAGOUSIA Cuvée Spéciale | PGI Peloponnese

A refined expression of Malagousia, crafted by oenologist Yiannis Flerianos. Inspired by the mountainous Dendroulia vineyard in Korinthia, it matures for five months on fine lees and in acacia barrels. Its straw-gold hue is paired with aromas of candied rose, peach syrup, melon, pear, ripe exotic fruits, and fresh herbs. On the palate, it is rich, generous, and vibrant, with mineral notes and bergamot essence. The cool, lingering aftertaste carries hints of lemongrass and subtle spice.

Aged potential: 2–3 years. Ideal with seafood, poultry, and creamy cheese dishes.
