This Easter, the Acropolis Museum invites visitors to explore a rich programme of experiences that bring ancient Athens closer to the present. From thematic presentations and family activities to curated Easter gifts and digital tours of the permanent collections, the Museum offers multiple ways to engage with its world.
Thematic Presentation | Stories of Everyday Life in a Neighbourhood of Ancient Athens
From Friday, April 3, 2026, the Museum’s archaeologists welcome visitors to discover a world that feels both distant and unexpectedly familiar.
What was daily life like in the ancient neighbourhood that extends beneath the Museum? How did its residents respond to everyday needs, organise their homes, and worship their gods? What roles did men, women and children hold?
A story spanning 4,500 years unfolds through the streets and remains of the excavation, as well as through 1,150 objects selected from the thousands left behind by those who once lived and created in this corner of ancient Athens.
Information and bookings available here.
Family Activity | Easter at the Kids’ Corner
On Holy Monday, April 6, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Kids’ Corner on the Museum’s second floor is transformed into a space of colour and imagination.
Roosters, hares and eggs, inspired by exhibits from the Museum’s collections, encourage young visitors aged 3 to 10 to create their own artworks. These can be used to decorate their homes, adorn Easter candles, or be offered as gifts.
At the same time, a specially designed Easter activity leaflet introduces stories rooted in antiquity, inviting children and their families to take part in a discovery game throughout the Museum galleries.
Family Programme | Time Travellers: Inside an Ancient House Beneath the Acropolis
An ancient family once lived in a house in this neighbourhood, at the foot of the Acropolis. Their lives were marked by moments of joy, routine, and loss. Over time, everything faded.
Centuries later, archaeologists uncovered what remained and named it House Γ.
Through a virtual journey across time, children and their guardians are invited into this space beneath the Museum. Guided by an archaeologist, participants use observation and imagination to gather clues that will help reconstruct the house and reconnect the family with its rooms and belongings.
Once the exploration is complete, the experience continues as a game in the Museum’s educational centre.
Information and bookings available here.
