The Mission to Earthphase – Moonshine Gold is the latest release in the Bioceramic MoonSwatch Collection, available exclusively on August 9th, the night of the full moon, in select Swatch stores around the world. Featuring Swatch’s latest innovation—the Earth Phase indicator—alongside a Moon phase display adorned with OMEGA’s Moonshine™ Gold and illustrations from the Snoopy universe, this release is a reminder that imagination and the courage to dream big are the first steps toward surpassing the limits of possibility.
First introduced by Swatch last year, the Earth Phase complication shows Earth as seen from the Moon. Like Moon phases, Earth phases follow a 29.5-day cycle—but in reverse. During a full moon, we see a “new Earth,” while during a new moon, we glimpse a “full Earth.” This reversed relationship causes the Earth in the Earth Phase indicator to move counterclockwise—opposite the Moon in the Moon Phase indicator—a poetic reinterpretation of the retrograde complication found in high-end watchmaking.
Beneath the Earth Phase sits a depiction of Snoopy, the beloved beagle and famed flying ace, with his loyal co-pilot Woodstock, sitting on the Moon and admiring the view of Earth—the most beautiful of all planets. A hidden phrase appears only under UV light, a playful nod to the pioneering spirit of the original Moonwatch—the first watch on the Moon—and a tribute to those who see things differently, for the first time.
The Moon Phase display, located at the 2 o’clock subdial, features two full moons, one rendered in the whimsical Snoopy style, both coated in OMEGA’s Moonshine™ Gold. Inspired by the Sturgeon Moon (August’s full moon), one of the moons in the display features a net-like pattern—a playful reference to the name’s origins.
Like all models in the Bioceramic MoonSwatch Collection, the Mission to Earthphase – Moonshine Gold is made from Bioceramic, Swatch’s patented innovation—a blend of two-thirds ceramic and one-third bio-sourced material derived from castor oil. It features a deep navy blue tone, created exclusively for this model, evoking the vastness of space.
It also includes signature features of the legendary OMEGA Speedmaster Moonwatch, such as the asymmetric case and the classic recessed Speedmaster subdials. The dial and crown proudly display the OMEGA x Swatch logo, while the caseback is engraved with the mission statement. The battery cover features a design inspired by Earth, and the VELCRO® rubber strap in navy blue adds a cool astronaut-inspired finishing touch.
