Dio Horia’s Acropolis space in Athens is proud to present Elias Kafouros’ new solo exhibition ‘‘Impersonal Trainer’’.
Throughout the summer, Dio Horia Gallery will host a major solo exhibition by the acclaimed Greek artist Elias Kafouros titled “Impersonal Trainer.” It will mark his third solo show with Dio Horia and his debut at the gallery’s space at the Acropolis.
“Impersonal Trainer” is partially curated by fellow artist Dora Oikonomou, adding a unique collaborative dimension to the presentation. Known for his intricate and highly detailed works, Kafouros’ latest exhibition continues to explore the themes and styles that have defined his celebrated career. His art is characterised by an oversaturation of colours, shapes, and text, creating an intense visual experience that pushes the boundaries of perception. As viewers engage with his pieces, they often reach a point where they no longer merely see each artwork – they can feel the energy emanating from it.
Elias Kafouros, born in Athens in 1978, has captivated the global art scene with his thought-provoking works. A graduate of the Athens School of Fine Arts and the School of Visual Arts in New York, his shows have taken place at Dio Horia Gallery, Germany’s Francoise Heitsch Gallery, and Switzerland’s Tint Gallery.
Since 2014, he has been designing exquisite silk scarves for Hermès, the iconic luxury design house. His recent work includes a collector’s handkerchief commemorating the 200th anniversary of the Greek Revolution, further showcasing his rich symbolic textures. His achievements have even earned the support of the Fulbright Foundation, underscoring his impact on contemporary art.
The pieces featured in “Impersonal Trainer” are expected to maintain Kafouros’ signature approach, challenging viewers to navigate through dense layers of imagery and symbolism. The exhibition invites visitors to immerse themselves in a sensory journey where the overload of visual stimuli transcends mere observation and turns into an emotional experience. The Acropolis space provides a fitting backdrop for Kafouros’ dynamic works, with the historical and cultural resonance of the location enhancing the depth of his art.
“Impersonal Trainer” at Dio Horia is set to be an enchanting highlight of the summer season in Athens, showcasing Elias Kafouros’ continued evolution as an artist and his ability to captivate and challenge audiences through his powerful visual narratives. This exhibition not only underscores his prominent place in the world of fine art but also offers an unparalleled opportunity for creatives to experience his visionary talent in all its transformative glory.
