Musical stories, magical tales and festive melodies fill the Megaron once again. Presale for all events has already begun. The Athens Concert Hall invites audiences on a radiant Christmas journey filled with art, emotion and wonder. The festive program unfolds from 16 December 2025 and continues into the first days of the new year.
Treasures of Baroque and Sacred Music
The celebration opens with a rare presentation of the Christmas Oratorio by Johann Sebastian Bach on 16 December. The historic ensemble Les Arts Florissants, led by Paul Agnew, brings this masterwork to life with distinguished soloists from the European baroque scene.
On 28 December, the Camerata Orchestra of Friends of Music, performing on period instruments, presents for the first time in Greece the Vespers of the Blessed Virgin by Claudio Monteverdi under the direction of the internationally acclaimed Emiliano Gonzalez Toro.
Musicals, Shadow Theater and Magical Adventures for the Entire Family
This year’s family programming shines brightly.
The beloved performer Elias Karellas and his troupe invite audiences on a multicultural shadow theater adventure set in Cuba with the production Karagiozis Christmas in Cuba, presented from 19 December to 5 January. Traditional characters meet Cuban percussion and circus acrobatics in an uplifting holiday spectacle.
From 20 December to 5 January, the brand new musical Aladdin and the Magical Christmas arrives with original music by Stefanos Korkolis and text by Gerasimos Evangelatos. With a cast including ZAF, Giorgos Niniós, Evelina Papoulia and Jerome Kalouta, the show promises light, rhythm, joy and fairy tale surprises.
A Christmas Organ Recital
On 21 December, two internationally renowned organists, Ourania Gasiou and Eleni Keventsidi, pay tribute to their late mentor Nicolas Kynaston with the recital Two Organists Four Hands. The program features a rare selection of works for church organ, including Bach, Reger, Tchaikovsky, Jongèn and beloved Christmas melodies.
A Festive Gala and a Trip around the World
On 30 December, the Athens State Orchestra and conductor Alexandros Myrat present the festive gala of the season titled A Trip around the World in Eighty and a Few More Minutes. From Gershwin’s I Got Rhythm to Morricone’s Gabriel’s Oboe, from the waltzes of Hisaishi and Shostakovich to African American rhythms, Latin American finales and surprise moments, this program celebrates global musical diversity in a spectacular holiday evening.
A New Year with the Sounds of Vienna
The new year begins on 4 January 2026 with the luminous melodies of Vienna. The Camerata Orchestra of Friends of Music under the direction of Dionysis Grammenos performs the cherished waltzes of the Strauss family, offering an elegant and joyful opening to the year.
A Celebration for All in the Foyer of the Muses and on the Ice Rink
The Athens Concert Hall continues its tradition of hosting free concerts in the Foyer of the Muses. From 14 to 29 December, choirs and young musical ensembles from conservatories and music schools across Attica present beloved Christmas songs and seasonal melodies for audiences of all ages.
A short walk from the foyer, the largest ice rink in central Athens awaits visitors. Open daily from morning to evening, it invites both beginners and experienced skaters to enjoy moments of joy and festive energy. Whether you come to skate or simply listen to the music, the experience is welcoming, cheerful and open to everyone.
