The Art of Reinventing Cycladic Heritage.

The Cycladic Shop presents Cycladic Wonders, a new collection by designer Margarita Chrysaki of the brand Maggoosh. The collection forms part of the Cycladic Shop’s collaborations with Greek and international designers who create works inspired by the Museum of Cycladic Art’s collections of Cycladic, ancient Greek and ancient Cypriot art.

This unique series of jewellery and design objects has been created exclusively for the Cycladic Shop and draws inspiration from the iconic exhibits of the Museum’s permanent collection: the marble Cycladic figurines, the purity of their lines and the timeless power of primordial symbols.

Crafted from precious stones and mother-of-pearl, the objects and jewellery pieces of the Cycladic Wonders collection are entirely hand-carved, reflecting both the simplicity and enduring influence of Cycladic art on contemporary creative practice. Each design by Margarita Chrysaki combines minimalist forms with subtle decorative details, expressed through the distinctive aesthetic language that has defined the Maggoosh brand over the past fifteen years in Greece and internationally.

Through contemporary reinterpretations of prehistoric forms, Chrysaki continues to explore feminine energy and the archetype of the woman-goddess — a recurring element at the core of Maggoosh’s creative identity.

The Cycladic Wonders collection includes necklaces, bracelets, brooches and rings, alongside design objects such as incense holders, paperweights and match holders — all conceived as timeless and culturally resonant objects. Ancient sacred symbols, including the spiral, the eye and the dove, are transformed into contemporary talismans crafted from lapis lazuli and quartz.

Alongside these playful reinterpretations of archetypal symbols, several designs evoke the well-known Cycladic figurines of the Spedos type, the violin-shaped figurines of the Early Cycladic period, and domestic vessels distinguished by hand-engraved details.

The iconic marble Cycladic figurine is reimagined as a contemporary relief object, entirely hand-carved from white aventurine — a rare stone symbolising purification and spiritual clarity. In smaller scale, the same forms are translated into fine jewellery pieces crafted from mother-of-pearl and diamonds. These creations evoke the Mother Goddess, one of the oldest and most universal archetypes across cultures worldwide, symbolising fertility and creation.

Beginning with drawing — the essential gesture through which each archaic form is first distilled — Margarita Chrysaki then develops small ceramic models that serve as prototypes for Maggoosh’s long-standing master carver, who hand-sculpts each individual object. The result is a collection that connects memory with contemporary desire through intimate objects of devotion.

The Cycladic Wonders collection is available online. Worldwide shipping is available. Every purchase from the Cycladic Shop supports the work of the Museum of Cycladic Art.
