In Orbit v.5: The Athens Alternative Music Scene Takes the Stage at SNFCC.

On the 4th, 5th, and 6th of October, at 20:00, the Dome at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC) will host a remarkable lineup of established and emerging artists.

The three-day festival, now in its fifth edition, showcases a diverse range of music genres—from hip-hop to rock with an electro stop in between—representing the constantly evolving music landscape of Athens.

Something magical happens when a small group of people open the microphones, strike the chords, and turn on their loopers in small stages and basements across Athens. In Orbit v.5 dives into the city’s alternative scene and presents its musical talent over three days.

On Friday, October 4th, Saturday, October 5th, and Sunday, October 6th, at 20:00, the Dome at SNFCC will welcome a roster of both established and rising artists. The festival’s eclectic program reflects the musical universe of the city, which continually takes on new forms and dimensions.

The festival opens on Friday with a hip-hop vibe featuring Buzz Capitano, LADELE, MiRA, and Dolly Vara. On Saturday, electronic music takes the lead with performances by TURBOFLOW3000, OLINA, Kalliopi Mitropoulou & Nikos Veliotis, and Bhukhurah. Sunday rounds off the event with a rock-centric lineup, including Moa Bones, Lemonostifel, Commuter, and Come.

Friday, October 4 | Hip Hop

Buzz Capitano: Buzz is a Greek rapper from Peristeri who has been active since 2013, first as part of the famous rap duo Zoro & Buzz. Known for his realistic and expressive lyrics and his dynamic interaction with the audience during live shows, Buzz has collaborated with renowned artists such as Anser, Eversor, and DPT. His solo albums include Leoforos Kavalas (2021) and Street Business (2023).

LADELE: A Greek-Nigerian rapper from Thessaloniki, LADELE entered the Greek rap scene in 2022, combining new wave sounds, sharp lyrics, and a powerful stage presence. With two EPs under her belt, she has collaborated with major artists like Tsaki, Hara, Grizzle, and Split.

MiRA: MiRA’s journey into hip-hop began at the age of 15. She made a name for herself through appearances in Dozen Minds Sessions on YouTube and released her old-school rap debut Aradia in 2023. Her latest releases blend soul elements while maintaining her edgy lyricism.

Dolly Vara: Dolly Vara’s music fuses hip-hop with pop and electronic beats, addressing queer experiences through her lyrics. She incorporates electrifying trap beats with experimental elements to critique modern societal issues.

Saturday, October 5 | Electro

TURBOFLOW3000: Emerging just before the pandemic, TURBOFLOW3000’s debut album UFO (2023) combines guitars, loops, and rapid rhymes into an electro-punk genre with a synth-pop aesthetic and Greek lyrics.

OLINA: An Athenian pop artist with soul elements, OLINA’s melancholic yet optimistic lyrics narrate stories of growing up. She plans to perform tracks from her debut EP Cats on CBD at the SNFCC.

Kalliopi Mitropoulou & Nikos Veliotis: Kalliopi will present her debut album Between along with older works by Nikos Veliotis, combining violin and cello with real-time synthesizer loops, creating a soundscape both dark and light.

Bhukhurah: A music producer, sound engineer, and multi-instrumentalist based in Athens, Bhukhurah blends neo-psychedelia and indie rock with dream pop in his debut album released in February 2024.

Sunday, October 6 | Rock

Lemonostifel: This band from Thessaloniki fuses Mediterranean-Balkan influences with rock, punk, and jazz. Their 2022 album 4 introduces lyrics into their eclectic music, with soaring guitars and nostalgic melodies.

Commuter: Heavily influenced by the post-punk scenes of Canada and the UK, Commuter is set to release their debut album in 2024, blending nostalgic punk with frantic guitars.

Come: This newly formed trio, born out of a summer adventure in Mykonos, combines punk guitars with pure rock ‘n’ roll energy. With two singles already out, their debut album is expected later this year.
