A modern approach to recording and showcasing Greek gastronomic culture from 23 collaborating regions of the country, with a series of organization and cooperation actions and an innovative month of gastronomic culture coming in May 2025 at the Renti Wholesale Market.
At the heart of Greek culture, gastronomy is not simply nutrition, but a ritual, a philosophy, a living connection to the past and the future. Plato’s plate was born from this idea: to highlight the Greek gastronomic heritage, redefining it at the same time through experiential experiences and modern techniques. Inspired by its beginnings in mythical Homeric and philosophical ancient Greece, where philosophy is connected to everyday life, from ancient symposia to monastic recipes and the local traditions of every corner of the country, Plato’s plate proposes a journey of flavors based on the richness of the Greek land, the wisdom of the Greek culinary tradition, and the culture of gastronomy, combined with modern demands for health, sustainability, and originality.
A vision for the future
Product, taste, place, culture. Through the constituent elements of Greek gastronomic culture, Plato’s plate utilizes heritage, offering authentic flavors, gastronomic experiences, and culture with a modern approach, aiming to become a point of reference at an international level. With the power of storytelling, taste, and authenticity, it aspires to educate, inspire, and reintroduce Greek cuisine to the global audience. Every product, a story. Every taste, a memory. Every experience, an opportunity for reflection and creative redefinition.
The project’s actions
With the Plato’s plate project, we are developing a set of actions. We are creating a repository of Greek gastronomic culture, with recorded exquisite products, flavors and recipes, museums and cultural spaces, events and festivals of gastronomic interest, as well as related bibliography, on the new website www.platosplate.gr. We present the gastronomic profile of the collaborating regions and thematic routes of gastronomic interest in the Greek countryside. We are creating a series of modern information and promotional tools and videos. We are implementing many local information, synergy, networking, and gastronomic community building actions. We support many events, conferences, and festivals in all the collaborating regions. We are exploring and achieving health claims for several products. We are designing and implementing our major action, the Month of Gastronomic Culture!

At the same time, the results of the project and good practices of sustainable development will be presented.
Greek gastrosophy – Food as a philosophy of life
Combining gastronomy with philosophy, we examine nutrition, cuisine, and flavors through a deeper cultural, spiritual, and aesthetic lens. Food becomes a tool for thought, creation, enjoyment, and social cohesion, as well as philosophical inquiry, art, and holistic experience.
With Plato’s plate, Greek gastronomy is not just a tradition we honor, but a living experience that evolves and inspires.
Are you ready to taste Greece like never before?
