Jazz at the Museum: Acclaimed Soprano Myrtó Papatanasiu at the Basil & Elise Goulandris Foundation.

After five successful years, the beloved concert series of the Basil & Elise Goulandris Foundation, Jazz at the Museum, returns to the Foundation’s Amphitheatre—this time expanding its horizons. Under the theme Her Voice, the new season opens up to fresh musical paths, embracing classical music, opera, and other forms of expression that highlight the timeless power of the musical art.

The series begins on Friday, October 24 with acclaimed soprano Myrtó Papatanasiu, who will illuminate the subtle interplay of breath and sigh through songs and arias from the Italian and French repertoire, accompanied by Dimitris Giakas on piano. In this timeless dialogue between light and shadow, silence and sound, breath and sigh, each piece unfolds as a miniature theatrical scene where voice and accompaniment become an expression of the human soul.

Myrtó Papatanasiu has performed in some of the world’s most prestigious opera houses and concert halls, collaborating with renowned conductors and orchestras. She received the “Maria Callas – Best New Artist” Award for her portrayal of La Traviata in Dallas, and in 2011 she appeared at the Closing Ceremony of the Special Olympics in Athens. Recent highlights include singing Elisabetta in Donizetti’s grand production La Bastarda at La Monnaie in Brussels, as well as Tosca on tour in France. She made her debut as Madama Butterfly in Catania and Ancona, and in 2023 she was invited to perform gala concerts in Milan, Palermo, Florence, Rome, and beyond, as part of the centenary celebrations of Maria Callas.
