The Italian restaurant Mercato at Four Seasons Astir Palace Hotel Athens breathes new life into Athens’ Sunday brunch scene, presenting a vibrant and interactive concept led by talented Chef Magky Tambakaki.
Fresh risotto perfected at the moment of serving, focaccia baked and filled before guests’ eyes, and oysters paired with chilled champagne set the tone for an elevated dining ritual. Beginning October 26, and every Sunday thereafter, visitors can enjoy this new experience at Mercato.
At the same time, with the arrival of winter, Mercato introduces its new seasonal menus, available from mid-November, inviting lovers of Italian cuisine on a flavorful journey through the country’s most distinctive regions.
Brunch with Italian Flair on the Athenian Riviera
Mercato’s brunch has become a Sunday tradition in Athens. The new, refreshed concept raises the bar even higher, featuring live cooking stations, rare Italian products seldom found in Greece, and a feel-good atmosphere with Italian musical influences and DJ sets.
Friends and families can enjoy a lavish buffet brunch every Sunday from 13:00 to 17:00 (€85 per person). Highlights include an oyster and champagne station, a Bologna tortellini trolley, live carving stations with porchetta and brisket, rare Italian cheeses, and a decadent chocolate surprise to end on a sweet note.
For young guests, complimentary access to the Kids Club ensures parents can relax and savor their meal.
Winter Menus: A Culinary Journey from North to South
From Naples to Turin, Mercato’s new winter menus offer a gastronomic voyage without a passport. Inspired by cucina povera, Italy’s authentic “simple cuisine,” the dishes are reintroduced with a modern twist and rare seasonal ingredients.
The journey begins in Milan with crostata with Gorgonzola, continues to Piemonte with crispy truffle arancini, and reaches Sicily with risotto al pistacchio with burrata and lemon. From Naples’ ziti with meatballs to Puglia’s orecchiette with broccoli, every dish tells its own culinary story.
Wine pairings and a refreshed cocktail list complete the experience, along with new desserts that invite guests to extend their evening against the endless blue of the Athenian Riviera.
Meet Chef Magky Tambakaki
Chef Magky Tambakaki, part of Four Seasons’ new generation of talent, brings her creative vision and passion for Italian cuisine to Mercato.
With studies in Rome and as co-founder of the popular Napule in Athens, Magky became widely known through MasterChef Greece and later as a judge on Junior MasterChef. She also collaborates with UNICEF, promoting children’s healthy eating — a philosophy reflected in her seasonal, ingredient-led approach to cooking.
“We are thrilled to bring back Mercato’s brunch with more flavor, fun, and energy than ever — the perfect occasion to gather with friends and family. Our new winter menus embrace the same Italian philosophy: authentic, generous, and made to be shared,” says Chef Tambakaki.
