Two tavernas, one menu, one day only in Athens
Guests from Paris are expected on Monday, November 3, at Taverna Oikonomou, and preparations are already underway. Chef Paul-Henri Bayart and his team — who have made it their mission to teach Parisians to enjoy keftedes, dolmadakia, and taramosalata (and even to read Greek!) — are coming to take over the kitchen of the legendary Taverna Oikonomou.
They are bringing their own recipes to Ano Petralona — recipes that naturally carry a Parisian flair. Alongside Oikonomou’s beloved classics and a few signature dishes that Chef Paul will creatively reinterpret, Monday promises to be filled with joy and unforgettable flavors.
In this special takeover, Greek tradition remains at the heart of the experience, enriched by the creativity of Chef Paul-Henri Bayart.
Throughout the day, a multi-course menu of 10–12 dishes will be available for lunch, dinner, and everything in between. From Taverna Oikonomou’s renowned wine list — one that rivals those of major restaurants, featuring exclusively Greek vineyards — many bottles will be opened specially for the occasion and also served by the glass. This is how the joy of dining with friends, sharing, and coming together will be celebrated.
Two Worlds, One Table
Taverna Paris is a Greek-Cypriot restaurant in Paris that has successfully captured the essence of generous hospitality through food, company, and atmosphere. For one day in Athens, it brings its own interpretation of what it means to “share.”
On the other hand, Taverna Oikonomou, with a history dating back to the 1930s, has remained one of the most beloved destinations for those seeking authentic traditional Greek cuisine. It is one of those places that never changes — because its timeless authenticity is exactly what makes it special.
