OMEGA has launched the 4th generation of the Planet Ocean, marking a major evolution for one of the brand’s most emblematic diving collections. Twenty years after the first model debuted in 2005, the Planet Ocean returns with a complete redesign that introduces seven new watches, three watch-head variations, and multiple bracelet and strap options.
A Complete Redesign Rooted in Diving Heritage
While the new models present a fully reworked case structure, slimmer profile, updated bracelets, and a contemporary aesthetic, they remain faithful to OMEGA’s long diving heritage. The essential Planet Ocean character—robust, technical, and instantly recognisable—remains intact.
The launch includes models in signature orange, blue, and black, each featuring ceramic bezels with hybrid ceramic or enamel diving scales, matte black dials, arrowhead hands, Super-LumiNova indexes, and newly redesigned Arabic numerals inspired by early Planet Ocean generations.
Seven New Co-Axial Master Chronometer Models
The 4th generation range offers:
- Orange models: matte orange varnished numerals, orange ceramic bezel, stainless-steel bracelet or black/orange rubber straps.
- Blue models: white numerals, blue ceramic bezel with white enamel diving scale, steel bracelet or black rubber strap.
- Black models: rhodium-plated numerals and black ceramic bezel with white enamel diving scale.
All models are equipped with the OMEGA Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 8912, offering 60 hours of power reserve and certified by METAS for precision, magnetic resistance, and performance.
A Legacy of Innovation
Since 1932—beginning with the Marine, the first civilian diver’s watch—OMEGA has led the evolution of underwater timekeeping. The Seamaster family expanded through the decades with the Seamaster 300, the PloProf, and the Diver 300M, ultimately leading to the first Planet Ocean in 2005 and the groundbreaking Ultra Deep in 2019.
The new Planet Ocean continues this trajectory with:
- A two-part case construction incorporating an inner titanium ring for improved structural integrity at depth
- New Grade 5 Titanium screw-in case backs
- The removal of the helium escape valve for a more streamlined aesthetic
- Fully re-engineered bracelets with flatter, slimmer, integrated links
- A reduced case thickness of 13.79 mm, compared to 16.1 mm on the previous generation
A Return to the Seamaster Roots
Design inspiration for the 4th generation came from Seamaster models of the 1980s and 1990s, resulting in sharper lines, angular edges, and a more fitted architecture—while preserving the iconic 42 mm size of the original 2005 Planet Ocean.
The Challenge of the Perfect Orange
OMEGA dedicated extensive research to perfecting a vivid ceramic orange bezel—traditionally one of the most difficult colours to achieve in ceramic production. The result appears across several models, paying homage to the collection’s identity since its inception.
A Global Campaign With New Ambassadors
To support the launch, OMEGA has introduced a global Planet Ocean campaign starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Glen Powell.
Taylor-Johnson appears wearing the blue model, while Powell sports the signature orange model, embodying the call of the ocean and the sense of adventure behind the collection.
A Bold New Chapter
Reengineered from the inside out, the 4th generation Planet Ocean continues OMEGA’s pioneering approach to diving watches—combining contemporary aesthetics, technical breakthroughs, and the uncompromising spirit that has defined the Seamaster lineage for over 90 years.
