For the third consecutive year, the City of Athens will host the grand finish of the DEI Tour of Hellas 2026 at Syntagma Square. On Sunday, May 10, the 5th Stage (Piraeus–Athens) will transform the city centre into an open celebration of cycling and sustainable mobility.
The Mayor of Athens, Haris Doukas, stated:
Athens continues to strengthen its role as a dynamic European capital capable of hosting major international events. The DEI Tour of Hellas 2026 and the UCI Mobility & Bike City Forum position the city as a reference point for cycling and sustainable mobility. We are consistently investing in green transportation and encouraging the everyday use of bicycles by both residents and visitors. We are moving forward with the creation of fifty electric bike rental stations across all neighbourhoods, while a free e-bike service is already operating at the municipal parking facilities in Klafthmonos and Varvakios. Through small yet meaningful interventions, we are shaping a city that is more friendly, modern and sustainable. I invite everyone to welcome together the athletes who have crossed all of Greece to reach Syntagma Square.
Greece’s Deputy Minister of Sports, Giannis Vroutsis, noted:
The government firmly supports major international events such as the DEI Tour of Hellas because we invest in the country’s extroversion, sports tourism, sustainable mobility and local development. With the contribution of the City of Athens and the Region of Attica, the grand finish in Athens acquires special significance, highlighting the capital as a point of reference for sport, participation and the country’s international image. The Tour of Hellas, however, is more than a top-level race. Through parallel educational activities involving thousands of students, it leaves a meaningful social legacy: promoting a culture of sport, road safety, inclusion and respect for public space.
The DEI Tour of Hellas, which began on May 6 in Ioannina, is not only a major international sporting event, but also an open celebration of public participation. The route followed by the athletes connects the coastal front and municipalities of southern Attica with the historic centre of Athens, highlighting both the beauty and the contemporary identity of the city. Citizens are invited to actively participate through a cycling ride, live music and a series of parallel activities.
The Programme in Athens
The final day of the DEI Tour of Hellas 2026 is dedicated to Attica. The race begins in Piraeus, follows the coastal route, passes through southern and eastern Attica and concludes with a spectacular finish at Syntagma Square in central Athens.
Cyclists are expected to enter the Municipality of Athens at approximately 13:25 via Athanasiou Diakou Street. The race route will pass through some of the city’s most central avenues and landmarks, including Syngrou Avenue, Amalias Avenue, Syntagma Square, Panepistimiou Street, Patission Street, Chalkokondyli Street, Akadimias Street, Vasilissis Sofias Avenue, Vasileos Konstantinou Avenue and Ardittou Street, offering world-class sporting spectacle in the heart of Athens.
The finish of the 5th Stage is expected around 14:00 on Amalias Avenue, at Syntagma Square near the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. The medal ceremony for the winners will follow.
The “Ride the Beat” Concert
Following the race and medal ceremony, celebrations will continue at Syntagma Square with the large-scale concert “Ride the Beat”. Performances by Stavento, Ivi Adamou, Evangelia, Kira May Cry, DJ Nikos Markoglou and Maria Fragkaki will set the musical tone for a festive experience open to all ages.

At the DEI FanZones, parallel events and activities will be available for children, families, cycling enthusiasts and visitors. Starting from 10:30 at Syntagma Square, activities include:

The Athens Cycling Ride
On Sunday, May 10, Athens will also host a cycling ride open to citizens and cycling clubs as part of a wider public celebration.
Through the initiative “DEI Tour of Hellas 2026 – Ride Athens Circuit”, participants will cycle along the same streets used by professional athletes, just hours before the Tour winner is decided, experiencing firsthand the atmosphere of the grand finish.
Registrations will take place at Syntagma Square from 09:30 to 11:00, with the ride beginning at 12:00 for a 6.5 km route. Participation is free and open to everyone aged 10 and above.
Useful Information for Residents and Visitors
To facilitate movement and ensure public safety, the City of Athens advises:
- Traffic regulations: Drivers are encouraged to follow updates from Attica Traffic Police regarding temporary road closures and inaccessible streets on race day.
- Public transport: The use of the Metro is strongly recommended for access to the city centre. Bus and trolley routes around Syntagma Square and nearby streets will be modified.
The City of Athens invites residents and visitors alike to join the celebrations and become part of this major cycling festival in the heart of the city.
