Now on view at CL Art Gallery in Kolonaki, HUMAN Forms, the latest solo exhibition by visual artist Christina Lappa, offers a compelling exploration of the human figure through a contemporary and expressive visual language.
The exhibition marks a new chapter in Lappa’s artistic practice, focusing on the evolution of her signature elongated human forms. Through abstraction, movement and a strong sense of collective presence, the works unfold as a dynamic study of human existence as a continuous flow of energy.
A visual language of movement and intensity
In HUMAN Forms, bold brushstrokes and striking colour contrasts define a series of works that sit within an abstract expressionist framework, enriched with anthropomorphic elements. The figures appear elongated, fluid and rhythmically aligned, as if moving within the same energetic field.
Rather than representing specific identities, these forms function symbolically—embodying resilience, transformation and the shared human experience. Repetition becomes a key visual element, reinforcing the sense of collectivity while leaving space for individual interpretation.
The compositions are built around a vivid, often explosive background, creating an emotionally charged environment. Against this intensity, the cooler tones of the figures introduce a subtle tension, suggesting a search for balance and cohesion within a chaotic world.
Between abstraction and emotional narrative
Lappa’s work invites viewers into a layered visual journey where form and expression exist in constant dialogue. Her use of colour, scale and movement creates an immediate connection with the viewer, transforming each piece into an immersive experience.
At the core of the exhibition lies the idea of the human figure not as a fixed identity, but as a living symbol—one that reflects strength, fluidity and the evolving nature of contemporary existence.
The exhibition will be on view at CL Art Gallery in Kolonaki until April 4, 2026. More information here.
