The official event for the commencement of the renovation of the historic Mitsis Grand Hotel in Rhodes took place on Friday, October 25, 2024, attended by the Minister of Tourism Olga Kefalogianni, Deputy Minister of Development Zoe Rapti, South Aegean Regional Governor George Chatzimarkos, Dodecanese MPs Tsambika Iatridi, Ioannis Pappas, Manos Konsolas, and Vasilis Ypsilantis, Mayor of Rhodes Alexandros Koliadis, President of the Panhellenic Federation of Hoteliers Ioannis Chatzis, as well as local authorities, journalists, executives of the Mitsis Group, and other distinguished guests. During the event, the landmark investment of €80 million was presented, marking the Group’s most ambitious development project on the island with significant prospects for the local community and economy. This initiative is being undertaken in collaboration with renowned international architectural firms WATG and ROAM Interior Design.
Repositioning the Hotel in the Market by 2026
The complete renovation of the Mitsis Grand Hotel, set to begin in the fall of 2024 and reopen to the public in 2026, aims to transform the hotel into a luxury year-round destination. It will maintain its historical identity while enhancing its position in the high-standard tourism market. The project includes:
Comprehensive refurbishment of rooms and suites.
Construction of private residences available for rent and sale.
Development of a Food Hall with over 10 dining sections offering international and Greek cuisine.
Creation of a luxury shopping center with multiple retail outlets.
Establishment of art spaces in collaboration with international galleries.
Creation of traditional arts workshops.
Sports facilities, including a 1,000 sq.m. gym, tennis courts, and padel courts.
Modern wellness facilities, including a 1,000 sq.m. spa.
Multiple event spaces for social and cultural gatherings.

Upcoming Projects
The Mitsis Group has planned a series of investment projects for the period 2024-2028, exceeding €250 million, with the renovation of the historic Mitsis Grand Hotel being the flagship project in the city of Rhodes. The investment plan includes the creation of new hotel units, complete renovations of existing hotels, and the management of additional hotels in significant Greek destinations such as Rhodes, Halkidiki, and Athens. These initiatives will further strengthen the Group’s footprint across the country.
