This season, Zeus + Dione joins forces with Lake Vouliagmeni, one of Greece’s most emblematic natural landmarks, in a creative partnership rooted in heritage and symbolism. Drawing inspiration from the lake’s storied past and raw natural beauty, the brand has envisioned a concept that blends cultural legacy, timeless design, and sustainable luxury.
At the heart of the Athenian Riviera, where nature reigns and silence inspires, the earth once gave way to reveal Lake Vouliagmeni, a geological marvel long revered as a “fountain of youth.” With its thermal waters, therapeutic properties, and serene mystique, the lake has become a global sanctuary for wellness and quiet rejuvenation. A protected Natura 2000 site, the lake’s fragile ecosystem is a living reminder of balance and resilience. Today, this majestic setting becomes the canvas for a unique creative dialogue, one that honors tradition, celebrates landscape, and embraces the art of slow living through the lens of the Greek summer.
Marios Schwab, Creative Director of Zeus + Dione, approached the lake as a multi-sensory landscape. His visual language is defined by three core elements: the limestone cliffs, the mirror-like water, and the hidden depths below. To these, he added his deep affinity for Greek printmaking, drawing on the linear precision of woodcuts, the nostalgic iconography of 1950s schoolbooks, and the abstract gestures of post-war Greek engravers. The result is a contemporary yet deeply rooted visual story.
In collaboration with emerging engraver Pantazis Tselios, the landscape was carved into symbolic woodcuts. Byzantine in spirit, these motifs tell a hidden story, inviting visitors to discover waves, rocks, corals, seaweed, Mediterranean flora, and shimmering reflections. This artistic language was adapted across materials, surfaces, and design objects: sunbeds, loungers, cushions, towels, and umbrellas now adorn every curated corner of Lake Vouliagmeni, including its famed restaurant, Abra Ovata. Nestled within the lake’s magical embrace, Abra Ovata now weaves its own narrative, elegant yet effortless, a sensorial haven where every detail matters but nothing overwhelms. Mediterranean creative cuisine, crafted with selected local ingredients, captures the authenticity and spirit of the place. The palette is soft and organic: midnight blue, taupe, sun-washed yellow, earthy brown, and olive green, all in harmony with the natural surroundings. Here, nature remains the protagonist.
